Our Work

The Youth Organizing Institute, NC HEAT and Education Justice Alliance are planning a non-violent direction action during the National Week of Action Against the School to Prison Pipeline and police brutality against teens on Oct 4-11!

The events are as follows:

October 6th- 4:00 pm: Join us at the Raleigh PD Headquarters (601 Hutton St. Raleigh, NC) as we host a press conference, during which young activists will speak on police brutality, the Solution Not Suspensions campaign, and the criminalization of youth.

October 10th- 4:00 pm: NC HEAT students will lead their third annual march from Washington Elementary School (1000 Fayetteville St, Raleigh, NC) to the Central Prison (1300 Western Blvd, Raleigh, NC) against school push-out. Please join us as we support NC HEAT and our collaborative work around the school-to-prison pipeline. There will be cultural performances, guest speakers, and a noise demonstration.

October 11th- 3:30 pm: Join us at Durham Skate Park (516 Rigsbee Ave, Durham, NC) for a cookout and public art demo. We will be creating a community mural that we will display on the back wall of the Pinkhook building (117 W. Main St, Durham, NC) in light of the recent police brutality in Durham.
